Hi! I'm Lori Compas, and this is me getting rained on during a hike on the Kalalau Trail.

I have a strong work ethic, an equally strong play ethic, a terrible sense of direction, and an innate optimism that has resulted in lots of amazing opportunities and a few tight scrapes.

I studied photojournalism, journalism, and agriculture at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and I've since worked as a writer, photographer, and web editor in Montana, Missouri, Australia, and Wisconsin. Now I'm a full-time writer for Perkins&Will, a global architecture and design firm, and I've been a certified commercial drone pilot since 2021.

In my free time I enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, and just generally being outside. I love it when my personal and professional goals intersect, so I'm particularly interested in writing and photography assignments that involve social justice and the environment.

A note about wedding photography

To those of you who have arrived here because you were referred by one of my former wedding photography clients, CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement! I'm so excited for you! But in 2020 I suspended wedding bookings indefinitely due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and guess what? Turns out I really enjoy having my weekends free! It was a difficult decision to give up wedding photography, and I hope you understand. All the best!
